Beatrix Potter Juice Lid Ornaments

The idea for this came from my friend. She loves Peter Cottontail and chose this theme for her first baby's nursery. While cleaning I came across The Tale of Peter Cottontail by Beatrix Potter. As I admired the illustrations this idea popped into my head. These ornaments will be part of her Christmas present. Hope she likes them!

On the back of each lid I clipped a corresponding piece of text. If I had thought about it more, I would have arranged the lids in the pic to flow with the story. Well..., if it is in chronological order, the lids can be flipped and snippets of the story tell the tale of a mischievous rabbit.

All the materials were on hand so this project was $0.
Materials:
Beatrix Potter pics (cut these out of a book)
Juice Lids
Mod Podge
Twine or Jute
Scissors
Hot glue gun
Paint Brush

Step 1: Find pics/text and cut out. Use a juice lid as a stencil.

Step 2: Measure out the twine to wrap around the lid and create a bow to the size you'd like.

Step 3: Hot glue around each lid. Secure bow.

Step 4: Mod Podge each pic onto the sides of the lid. Allow to dry.

Step 5: Apply a finishing coat around the tops of the pictures. Allow to dry.

Step 6: Hang up!

  10. Terrific idea, although I might have trouble cutting up my beautiful books, but that's what garage sales and book sales at libraries are for, right? This is such a great idea because you could use many different themes (although Beautrix Potter is SO cute!). Thanks for sharing, I am now following your blog!

  11. These are wonderful. What a clever idea. I'm sure your friend will love them.
These ornaments could then be added to a long piece of twine and would make cute bunting too!

  14. This is a really sweet project. Seems like I've been finding so many craft projects that are also recycle craft projects but then again I think it's always been that way. Crafting is the ultimate way to recycle! My daughter makes designer jewelry from recycled glassware.
I shared this craft with our group members on CafeMom - Holiday and Party Crafts - with a link back here for the tutorial. Thanks!
