New Addition to the Brag Wall: Patriotic Frame

Bragging time. Recently my husband was featured on the front of his company's monthly magazine. (See the handsome man in the bottom right corner Having a soldier in the family effects us all with the prolonged time away for training and the looming deployment...still a year away but on our minds none-the-less. It is a whole-family-affair when one is in the armed services, any branch. Sooooooooooooooooo, we proudly hung this on our "brag wall" in the upstairs hallway. Its next to the kids framed awards, special art projects, and whatever else we feel like bragging about.
.) They were featuring all the Reservists that work their civilian jobs with them.

The frame was a simple wooden one nabbed from a free box at a garage sale. It came with this lovely hand drawn picture. Guess this frame has a history of being hung on "brag walls." I'd say it was a Jr. High or High school Art Class assignment.

Using acrylic paints already on-hand, I pretty much eye-balled the whole thing, including the stripes, which I was trying to keep from looking like a candy-cane pattern.

The stars were made from a paper punch and Mod Podged on.

Its only a flag on two sides and black on the other two. For a consistent decorating effect we always use black frames.

What's on your "brag wall" or "brag book?"

Do you know a family with a deployed spouse? Give 'em a call, offer to babysit for a couple hours or drop off a meal. Its tough being the one at home "holding the fort down" while your significant other is away. Pray for them, their marriage, and the deployed spouse's safety. Your friendship and kindness will be much appreciated. :)
